Aneesh Sasikumar, Social Finance & Special Projects Lead

Aneesh Sasikumar is a strategic leader with international experience spanning social impact, organizational growth, community development, and human rights. He brings a multidisciplinary perspective to his work, combining strategic thinking, partnership building, creative problem-solving, and a strong understanding of the nonprofit and community sectors.

As Social Finance & Special Projects Lead with Branch Innovations at Seafair, Aneesh supports the development of social finance initiatives and other strategic projects focused on creating sustainable community and economic impact. His work includes stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and exploring innovative business and investment models that connect community needs with practical, scalable approaches to capital and growth.

Prior to joining Seafair, Aneesh served as Executive Director of the Learning Disabilities Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (LDANL), where he led a period of significant organizational growth and increased sustainability. During his tenure, the organization expanded its scale and reach fourfold, extending learning supports across Newfoundland and Labrador and developing accessible programming for people from early childhood through to seniors. LDANL was recognized with the 2024 Council of the Federation Literacy Award for outstanding achievement, innovative practice, and excellence in literacy.

Aneesh’s broader experience spans nonprofit leadership, fund development, research, teaching, refugee support, mental health, disabilities, social justice, and community development in Canada and internationally. He has contributed to organizations and initiatives including the Refugee Council in the United Kingdom and the Newfoundland and Labrador Human Rights Commission. He currently serves on the Board of the Anti-Racism Coalition of Newfoundland and Labrador, where he is Co-Chair of the Funding and Governance Committee, and contributes to the organization’s Anti-Racism Literacy Project.

Aneesh holds an MPhil in Humanities from Memorial University of Newfoundland, an MA in Human Rights, Globalization and Justice from Keele University in the United Kingdom, and an MA and BA in Philosophy from the University of Kerala in India. He has received a number of academic distinctions and was nominated by India’s Ministry of Human Resource Development for the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan – United Kingdom. His interdisciplinary academic background and experience living, studying, and working across three continents inform a human-centred approach to leadership and a strong interest in how organizations, capital, innovation, and community knowledge can work together to create sustainable and scalable impact.
